A man accused of stealing jewels from an 83-year-old woman on her hospital deathbed was remanded in police custody Monday after a brief court appearance.
Marcos Marinoni, 26, was arrested Saturday near Keele St. and Finch Ave. W. in connection with the theft from Toronto East General Hospital.

The owners of an exotic fish store say a vandal with knowledge of how fish tanks operate killed hundreds of fish and expensive coral in their store Wednesday afternoon.
Adam Ghavari, co-owner of Indoor Jungle at 1285 Kennedy Rd., believes someone poured either chlorine or bleach into a central system that connects a wall of fish tanks, killing 700 fish and 200 pieces of coral.

The girl, 10, was assaulted sexually by a sleep technician at a sleep clinic in Toronto. Detective Constable Phil Campbell of the Toronto Police said that the name of the clinic can not be released due to privacy laws. The clinic is as far as he knows open to the public and not limited to children.

Toronto police have issued an arrest warrant for a man claiming to be the “Chinese Warren Buffett” for allegedly defrauding more than 100 people of a combined $30 million.
Weizhen Tang, 51, is wanted on fraud charges for overseeing what police call a Ponzi scheme between January 2006 and March 2009.

Police are seeking two suspects after a 29-year-old man was shot in the head in Toronto’s west end, marking the city’s 62nd homicide of 2009.
On Tuesday at 10 p.m., Toronto police responded to a call reporting the sound of gunshots in the Gilmour Ave. and Dundas St. W. area.
The deceased was identified as Kenneth Mark of Toronto.

Police arrested a 29-year-old Toronto man who they say attempted to push two women in front of oncoming subways.
They allege that the man pushed a 22-year-old woman in front of a northbound train at the St. Andrew station on Thursday around 6 p.m.

Ontario’s highest court has upheld second-degree murder convictions against the father and stepmother of Randal Dooley.
A jury convicted Tony and Marcia Dooley in 2002 of murdering the seven-year-old boy in what’s been called one of Canada’s worst child-abuse cases.

A 23-year-old American man who turned himself in to police on Friday, Dec. 18 is now facing a first degree murder charge.Binh Nguyen walked into 53 Division police station, near Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue, at about 6:20 p.m. and confessed to killing his 19-year-old girlfriend.
Police attended the couple’s second-floor apartment near Huron and College streets where they found the woman’s lifeless body.

At about 9:30pm Friday, a gold-coloured minivan drove up and began shooting at a 41-year-old man sitting in his silver SUV near Weston Road and Lawrence Avenue West.
