    Lost in the recent hoopla of Colin Doyle’s pursuit of 1,000 National Lacrosse League (NLL) points was the performance of Blaine Manning.

    The Rock forward has quietly gone about the business of scoring goals and this year business is good.

    Manning scored five goals and added five assists as the Toronto Rock defeated the Edmonton Rush 16-7 in front of 10,052 at the Air Canada Centre on Friday night.

    You can’t stop the Rock.

    A week after Toronto’s dramatic overtime win in their home opener, which featured a royal rumble-style line brawl, the Rock showed they like to use their hands for offence as well.

    Led by rookie sensation Garret Billings’ five goals and Bob “Whipper” Watson’s 45 saves, the Rock streamrolled the Rochester Knighthawks 17 to 3 before 10,104 at the Air Canada Centre Saturday night.

    The Toronto Rock win a memorable home opener

    I went to a fight and a lacrosse game broke out.

    In a testy and vicious affair, the Toronto Rock defeated the Boston Blazers 8-7  in overtime at Air Canada Centre on Friday night.

    Garrett Billings scored the power-play winner at 6:37 of the extra frame when he found himself a small seam in front of the Boston net. He took a no-look, over the shoulder pass from Rock captain Colin Doyle and buried the ball over the left shoulder of Blazers goalie Anthony Cosmo. (More …)
