Leafs win a squeaker and take a 3-2 series lead against London

Darryl Craig threw a complete game seven-hitter as the Toronto Maple Leafs baseball club defeated the London Majors 3-1 at Christie Pits on Sunday afternoon.

Toronto led 1-0 until a two-run eighth inning, highlighted by a Brian Ivan double and a Damon Topolie sac fly.

Leafs return Sunday’s favour with a 12-1 spanking of London Majors

Kyle Degrace had four hits and three RBI(s) and Jason Pilkington went eight shut-out innings as the Toronto Maple Leafs destroyed the London Majors 12-1 at Christie Pits Wednesday night.

Degrace and Damon Topolie hit two-run shots in the first inning as the Leafs scored six to finish off the Majors early in game three.

London Majors tear the Leafs 11 new ones at Christie Pits

Will Richards drove in five and Craig Bate threw a complete game five-hitter as the London Majors took game one of the best-of-seven playoffs series with a convincing 11-1 win at Christie Pits on Sunday afternoon.

In the first inning, London’s offence provided all the runs Bate would need when Richards turned on a slider and drove the ball deep to right field for his first home run of the post season.

Leafs and Majors kick off first round of playoffs at Christie Pits Sunday afternoon

After rain washed out Wednesday’s start to the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) playoffs, the Toronto Maple Leafs are set to open up their best-of-seven series against the London Majors on Sunday afternoon at Christie Pits.

The Leafs compiled a 1-3 record against the Majors but played two double-headers, which doesn’t suit the older and more experienced Leafs.

Leafs turn up the juice for their 13th win at the Pits

Kyle Degrace drove in three runs and Jeremy Walker belted a three-run homer as the Toronto Maple Leafs powered past the Hamilton Thunderbirds 12-6 at Christie Pits on Sunday afternoon.

Toronto blasted three consecutive dingers while scoring six in the eighth, to break a 6-6 deadlock and make a winner out of reliever Mark Sikorski.

Leafs beat the Sox off of Brantford in 12 innings

Kern Watts’ sacrifice fly in the 12th inning lifted the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 6-5 win over the Brantford Red Sox at Christie Pits on Sunday afternoon.

Watts got a fastball from left-hander Steve Murray and launched it deep to left field, plating Jeremy Walker from third.

The comeback kids do it again at the Pits

Kern Watts hit two home runs and drove in four as the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Guelph Royals 6-5 in game one of a twin bill at Christie Pits on Sunday afternoon.

Watts tied the game in the seventh when he hit a moon shot that just cleared the right field fence.

A solo blast does in the Leafs baseball club at the Pits

Jeremy Ware hit a game-winning solo shot in the top of the seventh as the Guelph Royals defeated the Toronto Maple Leaf 5-4 to split a twin bill at the Christie Pits baseball diamond on Sunday afternoon.

With one out, Ware took an inside fastball and turned on it, launching it deep into the left-field trees, spoiling a great outing for Leafs reliever Jon Lockwood.

Deska shuts down the Dodgers as Leafs win at home

Marek Deska struck out 14 and Jeremy Walker hit a solo home run as the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Oshawa Dodgers 2-0 at Christie Pits on Wednesday night.

The winning run came courtesy of a Raul Borjas single in the first.

Deska went the distance, scattering two hits while walking two.

Leafs slam Twins at the Pits in shutout

Kern Watts drove in four runs and Drew Taylor went five shut-out innings as the Toronto Maple Leafs obliterated the Mississauga Twins 9-0 at Christie Pits on Sunday afternoon.

The winning run came in when Watts scored on a Gamin Teague single.

Maple Leafs win second game of doubleheader against the Majors

Kyle Degrace had three hits and three RBIs and Marek Deska went six innings as the Toronto Maple Leafs split a twin bill against the London Majors, with a 13-6 win at Christie Pits on Sunday afternoon.

The winning run scored when Kern Watts crossed the plate, courtesy of a Tony Lewis three-run shot in the fourth.

Almost a no-hitter for Deschenes as Toronto Maple Leafs shut out by London Majors

Pierre Deschenes threw a complete game two-hitter as the London Majors took the first game of a doubleheader 2-0 at Christie Pits on Sunday afternoon.

He took a no hitter into the seventh inning but a one out single to right by Dan Gibbons spoiled the bid.

The Leafs dig the long ball.

Jeremy Walker hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth to propel the Toronto Maple Leafs to an 11-8 win over the Hamilton Thunderbirds at Christie Pits on Wednesday night. (More …)

Toronto squeaks past Brantford in the bottom of the ninth

Unlike the hockey team with the same name, at least these Leafs win close games.

Kitchener beats Toronto in extra innings

Mat Taube singled in the winning run in the tenth inning as the Kitchener Panthers defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 10-9 at Christie Pits on Wednesday night.

Curtis Young and Andy Pietraszky reached on base hits and Taube drove a two-out single into right field to score Young and make a loser of Toronto reliever Jon Lockwood.

Toronto defeats Hamilton in Sunday ball at Christie Pits

Drew Taylor went seven plus innings and Tony Lewis drove in two runs as the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Hamilton Thunderbirds 5-1 at Christie Pits on Sunday afternoon.

The winning run was scored in the third inning when Lewis drove in centre-fielder Kern Watts with a single to right field.

Toronto beats Mississauga in extra innings

Rob Gillis belted the game-winning home run in the bottom of the 15th inning to give the Toronto Maple Leafs a 2-1 win over the Mississauga Twins at Christie Pits on Sunday afternoon.

Gillis took a fastball deep to right field on the first pitch from Mississauga reliever Mickey Campeanu that ended a four-hour marathon. (More …)
