(NewsFix) As according to a new research conducted it was found that social deprivation and also how the patients control their blood sugar are independent risk factors. It was also proved that the patients suffering from type1 diabetes still have increased mortality and morbidity. It shows that the social deprivation is the key factor for the type1 diabetes patients.
The research presenter, Dr Stephen Thomas from Dept of Diabetes and Endocrinology, Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, London explains the study, “In order to optimize specialist services with the aim of improving outcomes, this study set out to determine modifiable factors that influence mortality in type 1 diabetes, Glycaemic control and social deprivation are independent risk factors for mortality in type 1 diabetes and identify areas where we need to target interventions to improve health outcomes. This data analysis is ongoing and offers the possibility of much needed insights into where healthcare outcomes need to be addressed.”
