A study has revealed that those who eat leafy green vegetables such as spinach, cabbage, and others can reduce their risk of developing diabetes.
The study was led by Patrice Carter and was published in the British Medical Journal, focusing on over 220,000 people for the purpose of seeing how a diet high in vegetables would help prevent diabetes. A diet that is high in fruit and vegetables has been found to help reduce the risk of diabetes a great deal.
Researchers found that those who had 1.15 servings of leafy green vegetables daily had a 15% reduced risk of type 2 diabetes compared to those who ate less vegetables than that daily. Diabetes is very widespread, impacting millions of people each and every year.
They found no added benefit though to eating more than the recommended amount of servings of the leafy green vegetables.
More research is necessary, but it is clear from this that leafy green vegetables is one way to not only increase your level of health, but also reduce risks of diseases such as diabetes.
