A study has found that people who have a long commute are more likely to suffer relationship problems, and end up separated from their partner or spouse.
Jobs are far and few between in the economy that we currently live in, resulting in the fact that we are more likely to pretty much take a job that may not be the most convenient when you look at where we may live.
A new study led by Erika Sandow from Umea University has looked at the impact a long commute has on the relationships of these individuals.

Researchers analyzed more than 2 million adults in the U.S., with all of them either married or living with a partner.
What researchers found was that 11% of those surveyed traveled at least 90 minutes round-trip each day to and from work.

The study did find that commuters get used to this schedule, but not from a relationship standpoint.
Those who traveled 90-minuts or more to work each day were 40% more likely to separate from their wife or partner.

The separation was said to be more likely to take place in the first year or two of the commute.
It was acknowledged that the longer commuters were more likely to get “better” jobs, but the end-result may not be worth the career gain according to researchers.
