Is This the Formula for True Happiness?

In an interesting development, a psychologist from England has claimed to develop a formula for happiness. This calculation of happiness may be based on parameters which generally make people feel good such as sight of beautiful flowers, prospects of holidays in the near future, and some pleasant memories from the past or childhood.

All of these may seem to be non-numeric or non-measurable factors to which you may not be able to attach any value. However, Cliff Arnall, a former lecturer at Cardiff University has claimed to have achieved just that. He has put down the formula as O + (N x S) +Cpm/T where O is the value of being outdoors or on holidays, N is for Nature, S is for amount of social interaction, Cpm enumerates childhood memories and T the temperature.

Arnall has also made some calculations based on his devised formula to establish that the third Friday in June was an optimal day for happiness combining the prospects of holidays, pleasant childhood summer memories, and increases social interactions.

He further strengthens his idea by saying that people may start considering their happiness in materialist terms by questioning how happy they are.
