After a three-week metamorphosis the down and dirty Fluid Lounge has been transformed into Pop Night Club, the latest extension to the Toronto club scene.

Owned by cousins David and Moses Sabatino, Pop Night Club is a surprising addition to the ailing entertainment district in what was once the busiest party circuit in Toronto.

“I’ve owned Fluid since 1994, and had a lot of clubs in this area - Metro, Red Drink Boutique,” said Moses. “When I opened Fluid in 1994 there were very few clubs in this neighbourhood. A few years later it took off and ballooned to over 50 clubs. Now people say that this area is done and it’s time to get out [of this clubbing district], but I feel like it’s gone back to 1994 when I first opened.”

Featuring a colourful mod look on one side, and a sleek neutral palette on the other, Toronto’s Pop Night Club merges the sophistication of the King West clubs, with the whimsy and art of Circa in its former glory days, to offer the best of both worlds.

“I want to give club-goers a proper experience,” said Moses. “From the moment you arrive you should feel like you’ve been transported to a new planet. A nightclub should be like a theatre with all aspects on point.”

But will it be enough to bring the club kids back into the district? Only time will tell.
