A Toronto man faces seven charges as a result of an internet luring investigation by Toronto Police’s Sex Crimes Unit.

Police officers, armed with search warrants, raided a residence and a business in Toronto. The suspect was arrested at his residence in the area of Jane Street and Lawrence Avenue.

Police say the man used the email address [email protected] to contact children over the internet. Once contact was made with children, it is alleged the suspect exposed himself over the internet.

According to Det. Paul Krawczyk of the Child Exploitation Section of the Sex Crimes Unit, the investigation began in Pennsylvania. It is alleged that the suspect made contact with an undercover officer posing as a 13-year-old girl.

Authorities in Pennsylvania traced the internet connection to Toronto. They contacted the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre (NCECC) in Canada. The NCECC then forwarded the information to Toronto Police.

Krawczyk said the investigation is still ongoing and it is still not clear whether the suspect attempted to contact children in the Toronto area.

Kevin Jarvis, 28, of Toronto has been charged with seven sexual offences including failing to comply with probation, luring a person under 16 and attempting to expose himself to a person under 16.

He is scheduled to appear in court on June 16.

Police are concerned he may have tried to contact children and are asking anyone with information to contact the Child Exploitation Section at 416-808-8500 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
