Police have charged a 20-year-old man with seven firearms offences after an argument over a stolen iPod turned deadly Tuesday night.
At 9:50 p.m. yesterday police were called to Main subway station after a shooting was reported. There they found a man suffering from a minor gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to hospital and was released shortly after, police said.
Police said the suspect was arguing with another man accusing him of stealing his iPod. The suspect pulled out a handgun and the two men started struggling when a shot rang out hitting the other man.
The shooting victim was an acquaintance of the alleged iPod thief. All of the people involved were in their late teens or early twenties.
After getting a precise description, police were able to arrest the suspect a few blocks from the subway station.
Ervin Garcia, 20, of Toronto, has been charged with possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless storage of a firearm, discharge of a firearm endangering life, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon.
He is scheduled to appear in court at College Park Wednesday morning.
